Those whose testimony is not accepted and is rejected

Musaddad said: Abu Awanah narrated to us from Abu Hashim, from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), that he said: "The kubah (a kind of drum or tabla) is unlawful, the daff (tambourine) is unlawful, the ma'azif (all kinds of musical instruments) are unlawful, and the mizmars (flutes or other wind instruments of music) are unlawful."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The person who has no sense of honour regarding his women (wife, daughter, sister, etc.) and tolerates indecency among them will not enter Paradise."

It is narrated from Talhah bin Abdullah bin Awf (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a caller, and when he reached the mountain pass he called out: "The testimony of a party to a dispute (i.e. anyone who is a party to a dispute, whether claimant or defendant) and of a suspect person (one whose truthfulness or honesty is doubted) is not acceptable, and the oath is binding on the defendant."
Abu Dawud narrated it in his book al-Marasil.

Abdullah bin Abi Mulaykah (may Allah have mercy on him) wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) in which he asked about the testimony of children. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "It (their testimony) is not permissible, because Allah Almighty says: 'Of those whom you approve as witnesses' [Surah al-Baqarah: 282]." And (from this same Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both)) it is narrated about some Zanj slaves who slaughtered a donkey, and their master paid compensation for it (the donkey), so the hadd punishment of cutting off the hand will not be applied to them (the slaves).

It is narrated from Imam al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The testimony of a child against a child, and the testimony of a slave against a slave, is acceptable."

It is narrated from Abu Salamah (may Allah have mercy on him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No religion (i.e. faith or creed) inherits from (a member of) another religion, nor is the testimony of (a member of) one religion permissible against (a member of) another religion, except for the Ummah of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), for their testimony is permissible against those other than them."

It is narrated from Musa bin Shaybah (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) rejected the testimony of a man because of his lying."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (Ibn Mas'ud) (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Beware of these mischief-making dice that are thrown with a jerk, for they are in fact a form of gambling."
Ahmad bin Mani' said: Ali bin Hashim narrated to us from Ibrahim al-Hajari, from Abu al-Ahwas, something like it.

Abu Ya'la stated that Ubaydullah bin Umar bin Maysarah narrated to us; he said: Makki bin Ibrahim narrated to us from al-Ju'ayd bin Abd al-Rahman, from Musa bin Abd al-Rahman al-Khatmi, that he heard Muhammad bin Ka'b al-Qurazi asking Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah have mercy on him): "What did you hear your father (Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him)) narrate from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: "I heard my father say that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'The example of the one who plays nard (backgammon) and then stands up and prays is like the example of one who performs ablution with pus and the blood of a pig.' Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'His prayer is not accepted.'"
