Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, death will be brought in the form of a black-and-white ram and will be made to stand between Paradise and Hell. Then a caller will announce: 'O people of Paradise!' They will say: 'Here we are, O our Lord.' It will be asked: 'Do you recognise this?' They will reply: 'Yes, O our Lord, this is death.' Then it will be slaughtered as a goat is slaughtered. So these (the people of Paradise) will be safe, and as for those (the people of Hell), their hope will be cut off."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, al-Tabarani recorded something similar in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded it; their narrators are the narrators of the Sahih except Nafi' bin Khalid al-Tahi, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him to Yemen. When he came to those people, he said: "O people, I am the envoy of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to you, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has informed you: 'The return is to Allah, to Paradise or to Hell; an everlasting life without death, and an abode without departure.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and something similar in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, in which he added these words: "In bodies that will not die." The chain of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir is jayyid (good), except that the narrator Ibn Sabit did not meet Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The narrator missing between the two is Amr bin Maymun al-Awdi, as Imam al-Hakim (may Allah have mercy on him) recorded it in "al-Mustadrak" at the end of Kitab al-Iman. His chain contains Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji, and al-Hakim said after it: This hadith is sahih in its chain; its narrators are people of Makkah, and Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji is the imam and mufti of the people of Makkah, except that the two Shaykhs (that is, Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and Imam Muslim) held that hadith was not his field; and Allah knows best.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If it were said to the people of Hell: 'You will remain in Hell for as long as the number of pebbles that were in the world,' they would rejoice even at that. And if it were said to the people of Paradise: 'You will remain in Paradise for as long as the number of pebbles that were in the world,' they would grieve even at that. But (Allah Almighty) has decreed eternity for them."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains al-Hakam bin Zuhayr, whose weakness is agreed upon.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The people of Hell will call upon Malik (the keeper of Hell), and he will not answer them for forty years. Then he will say: 'You will remain in it.' Then they (the people of Hell) will call upon their Lord and say: 'O our Lord, bring us out of it; if we return (to evil), then we will indeed be wrongdoers.' The Lord will not answer them for the like of the duration of the world. Then He will say: 'Remain in it in disgrace, and do not speak to Me.' Then those people will despair, and then there will only be sounds of moaning and wailing, and their voices will resemble the voices of donkeys, the beginning of which is choked and the end of which is extremely loathsome."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
