Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites Surah al-Ikhlas when entering his house, poverty is removed from the residents of that house and from its neighbours."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Marwan bin Salim al-Ghifari, who is matruk (abandoned).

Abdullah bin Ubayd bin Umayr narrates: When Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) entered his house, he would recite Ayat al-Kursi in all the corners of the house.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that the narrator Abdullah did not hear from Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Uthman al-Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any Muslim who leaves his house to go on a journey or for some other purpose, and while leaving recites:
'Amantu billah, i'tasamtu billah, tawakkaltu 'ala Allah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (I have believed in Allah, I have held fast to Allah, I have put my trust in Allah; nothing can happen without the help of Allah.)
(The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) he is granted the good of that going out, and the evil of that going out is turned away from him."
Ahmad recorded it from a man, from Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Zayd bin Abdullah bin Khasifah narrates from his father, from his grandfather: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out of his house, he would recite:
'Bismillah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, ma sha' Allah, tawakkaltu 'ala Allah, hasbiyallahu wa ni'mal-wakil' (In the name of Allah, seeking blessing; nothing can happen without the help of Allah; what Allah wills (that alone happens); I have put my trust in Allah; Allah is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.)
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Yazid bin Abd al-Malik al-Nawfali, who is matruk (abandoned).

Awf narrates: When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) left his house, he would recite:
'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'ala Allah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (In the name of Allah, seeking blessing; I have put my trust in Allah, and nothing can happen without the help of Allah.)
Muhammad bin Ka'b al-Qurazi said: This is in the Qur'an: "Embark on it in the name of Allah," and he also said: "In Allah alone we put our trust."
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a mawquf report (stopping at the Companion); its chain is munqati' (broken), and its chain contains al-Mas'udi, who had suffered confusion (ikhtilat).

Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out of my house, he would raise his gaze towards the sky and then supplicate:
'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika an adilla aw udalla, aw azilla aw uzalla, aw ajhala aw yujhala 'alayya, aw azlima aw uzlama' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from going astray or being led astray, from slipping or being made to slip, from acting ignorantly or being treated ignorantly, and from doing wrong or being wronged.)
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Abu Bakr al-Hudhali, who is da'if (weak).
