Awf narrates: When Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) left his house, he would recite:
'Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'ala Allah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (In the name of Allah, seeking blessing; I have put my trust in Allah, and nothing can happen without the help of Allah.)
Muhammad bin Ka'b al-Qurazi said: This is in the Qur'an: "Embark on it in the name of Allah," and he also said: "In Allah alone we put our trust."
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a mawquf report (stopping at the Companion); its chain is munqati' (broken), and its chain contains al-Mas'udi, who had suffered confusion (ikhtilat).
