Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about a man who was called "Dhu al-Bijadayn": "He is obedient (awwah)." The reason for this was that this man remembered Allah abundantly in reciting the Qur'an, and he used to supplicate in a loud voice.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and the chain of both is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Ibn al-Adra' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I used to guard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One night he went out to relieve himself. When he saw me, he took hold of me, and the two of us went on. We passed by a man who was reciting the Qur'an aloud while praying. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It may be that he is a show-off." The narrator says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! This man is praying and reciting the Qur'an aloud." The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pushed my hand away and said: "You will not attain this matter by trying to overpower one another." The narrator says: Then one night the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out while I was guarding him; he had come out for some need. He took my hand, and we passed by a man who was praying, reciting aloud as he prayed. I said: "It may be that this man is a show-off." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not at all! He is an obedient man (awwab)." The narrator says: I looked, and it was Sayyiduna Abdullah Dhu al-Bijadayn (may Allah be pleased with him).
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: By Allah! This scene is still before my eyes today: on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, I was hearing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was in the grave of Sayyiduna Abdullah Dhu al-Bijadayn (may Allah be pleased with him), and with him were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hand your companion to me!" until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laid him down in his niche in the grave. When he had finished burying him, he turned towards the qiblah and supplicated: "O Allah! I have reached this evening pleased with him, so be pleased with him too."
Al-Bazzar recorded it from his teacher Abbad bin Ahmad al-Arzami, who is matruk (abandoned).
