وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَكَأَنِّي أَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ وَهُوَ فِي قَبْرِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ذِي الْبِجَادَيْنِ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ - رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِمَا - وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " نَاوِلُونِي صَاحِبَكُمَا " . حَتَّى وَسَّدَهُ فِي لَحْدِهِ ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ دَفْنِهِ اسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَمْسَيْتُ عَنْهُ رَاضِيًا فَارْضَ عَنْهُ " . رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ عَنْ شَيْخِهِ : عَبَّادِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الْعَرْزَمِيِّ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: By Allah! This scene is still before my eyes today: on the occasion of the Battle of Tabuk, I was hearing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was in the grave of Sayyiduna Abdullah Dhu al-Bijadayn (may Allah be pleased with him), and with him were Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hand your companion to me!" until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laid him down in his niche in the grave. When he had finished burying him, he turned towards the qiblah and supplicated: "O Allah! I have reached this evening pleased with him, so be pleased with him too."
