Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O assembly of the Ansar! Who is your chief?" They submitted: "Jadd bin Qays, though we consider him miserly." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not your chief; rather, your chief is Amr bin al-Jamuh; he is generous." (Perhaps these words, "he is generous", are the narrator's.)
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Abu Shaybah Ibrahim bin Uthman, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that he was present at that time when Sayyiduna Amr bin al-Jamuh (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! What is your view about this: if I fight in the path of Allah and am killed, will I walk properly on this leg of mine in Paradise?" The narrator said: One of his legs was lame. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" The narrator said: Then on the day of the Battle of Uhud, he, a nephew of his and a slave of theirs were martyred. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by him and said: "It is as if I am looking at him even now, walking properly on this leg of his." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order concerning the two of them and their slave, and they were laid in a single grave.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Yahya bin Nasr al-Ansari, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
