Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Banu Salimah! Who is your chief?" They submitted: "It is Jadd bin Qays, though we regard him as miserly." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, your chief is the curly-haired, fair-complexioned Amr bin al-Jamuh." The narrator said: Whenever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married, Sayyiduna Amr bin al-Jamuh (may Allah be pleased with him) would arrange the wedding feast (walimah) for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Humayd bin al-Rabi'; Uthman bin Abi Shaybah, Ibn Hibban and others declared him thiqah (trustworthy), while a group declared him da'if (weak).
