بَابُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ جَعَلَ الْحَقَّ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ وَقَلْبِهِ .

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ جَعَلَ الْحَقَّ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ وَقَلْبِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُ الْبَزَّارِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ الْجَهْمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَالْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَرِجَالُ الْبَزَّارِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ الْجَهْمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَهْمِ ، وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has placed the truth upon the tongue and the heart of Umar."
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat) recorded it. The narrators of al-Bazzar are the narrators of the Sahih, except for al-Jahm bin Abi al-Jahm, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

وَعَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَضَعَ الْحَقَّ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ وَقَلْبِهِ ، يَقُولُ بِهِ " .

Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has placed the truth upon the tongue and the heart of Umar; he speaks in accordance with it (the truth)."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Ali bin Sa'id al-Muqri' al-Akkawi, and I do not know him. The remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, Allah Almighty has placed the truth upon the tongue of Umar and upon his heart."

وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَا كَانَ نَبِيٌّ إِلَّا فِي أُمَّتِهِ مُعَلِّمٌ أَوْ مُعَلِّمَانِ ، وَإِنْ يَكُنْ فِي أُمَّتِي مِنْهُمْ أَحَدٌ فَهُوَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ; إِنَّ الْحَقَّ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ وَقَلْبِهِ " .
قُلْتُ : فِي الصَّحِيحِ بَعْضُهُ بِغَيْرِ سِيَاقِهِ .

قُلْتُ : فِي الصَّحِيحِ بَعْضُهُ بِغَيْرِ سِيَاقِهِ .

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Every prophet there has been had one or two teachers (mu'allim) in his Ummah, and if any of them is to be in my Ummah, it will be Umar bin al-Khattab. Indeed, the truth is upon the tongue and heart of Umar." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: part of this narration is in the Sahih, though not in this wording.

وَعَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ : إِذَا ذُكِرَ الصَّالِحُونَ فَحَيَّهَلَا بِعُمَرَ ، مَا كُنَّا نُبْعِدُ أَصْحَابَ مُحَمَّدٍ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَنَّ السَّكِينَةَ تَنْطِقُ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ .

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the righteous are mentioned, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) will be mentioned among them; and we, that is, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), did not consider it far-fetched that tranquillity (sakinah) speaks upon the tongue of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

وَعَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ : مَا كُنَّا نُبْعِدُ أَنَّ السَّكِينَةَ تَنْطِقُ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ .

وَعَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ : كُنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ أَنَّ السَّكِينَةَ تَنْزِلُ عَلَى لِسَانِ عُمَرَ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Tariq bin Shihab narrates: We used to talk among ourselves about how tranquillity (sakinah) descends upon the tongue of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).
