Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The speech with which Allah Almighty addressed Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) consisted of one hundred and forty thousand words over three days. When Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) heard the speech of human beings, he felt aversion towards it, because the speech of the Lord had reached his ears. Among what the Lord said to him in that address was: 'Those who strive to please Me have done no deed like detachment from the world, those who seek nearness to Me have not drawn near to Me through anything like scrupulous abstinence, that is, abstaining from what I have made unlawful for them, and the worshippers have not worshipped Me with anything like weeping out of fear of Me.' Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) said: 'O Lord of all creation! O Master of the Day of Resurrection! O Possessor of Majesty and Honour! What have You prepared for them, and what will You reward them with?' The Lord said: 'As for those who are detached from the world, I have made My Paradise permissible for them; they will settle in it wherever they wish. As for the scrupulous who keep away from what I have made unlawful for them, when the Day of Resurrection comes I will take account of every servant, except the scrupulous; their case is different, for I will feel shy before them, I will honour them, and I will admit them into Paradise without reckoning. As for those who weep out of fear of Me, for them is the Highest Companionship, and no one else will share it with them.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Juwaybir, who is extremely da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you are asked which of the two terms Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) completed, then say: the better of the two, the more complete and the more virtuous. And if you are asked which of the two women he married, then say: the younger of them. She is the one who came and said: 'O my father, hire him, for he will prove the best employee; he is strong and trustworthy.' Sayyiduna Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) asked: 'Where did you see his strength?' She said: 'He took hold of a heavy stone and moved it away from the well.' Sayyiduna Shu'ayb (peace be upon him) asked: 'Where did you see his trustworthiness?' She said: 'He said: Walk behind me, and do not walk in front of me.'"

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) states: When Allah Almighty spoke to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) on the Day of Tur, it was different from the speech with which He had spoken to him on the day He called him. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) said: "O my Lord, is this the same speech of Yours with which You spoke to me?" He said: "O Musa, I have spoken to you with the strength of ten thousand tongues, and I possess the strength of all tongues, and even more than that." When Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) returned to the Children of Israel, they said: "O Musa, describe to us the speech of the Most Merciful." Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) said: "You do not have the capacity for it. Have you heard the sound of the thunderbolt when it comes, when it strikes with full force; do you hear it? That sound was close to it, but it was not like it."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Angel of Death used to come to people openly. He came to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), and Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) slapped him and gouged out his eyes. He went to the Lord and said: 'O my Lord, Your servant Musa has gouged out my eye. Were it not for the honour You have given him, I would have punished him.' (Here one narrator transmitted a different word.) The Lord said to him: 'Go to My servant and tell him to place his hand on a hide, or on the skin of an ox; for every hair that comes under his hand he will be given one year.' The Angel of Death came to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) (and conveyed this). Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) asked: 'Then what will happen after that?' He replied: 'Death.' Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) said: 'Then (take my soul) now.' So he made Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) smell something and took his soul." Here the narrator Yunus transmitted these words: "Allah Almighty restored the Angel of Death's eye to him, and after that he began to come to people in secret." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of this narration is mentioned in the Sahih.
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
