بَابُ إِكْرَامِ الْكَرِيمِ

عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْبَجَلِيِّ أَنَّهُ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَهُوَ فِي بَيْتٍ مَدْحُوسٍ [ مِنَ النَّاسِ ] ، فَقَامَ بِالْبَابِ ، فَنَظَرَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا فَلَمْ يَرَ مَوْضِعًا ، فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - رِدَاءَهُ ، فَلَفَّهُ ثُمَّ رَمَى بِهِ إِلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " اجْلِسْ عَلَيْهِ " . فَأَخَذَهُ جَرِيرٌ ، فَضَمَّهُ ثُمَّ قَبَّلَهُ ، ثُمَّ رَدَّهُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَقَالَ : أَكْرَمَكَ اللَّهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَمَا أَكْرَمْتَنِي . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا أَتَاكُمْ كَرِيمُ قَوْمٍ فَأَكْرِمُوهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَوْنُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْقَيْسِيُّ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah al-Bajali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a house that was packed with people. Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) stood at the door. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked to his right and left but saw no space, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took his cloak, folded it, then threw it to Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Sit on it." Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) took it, held it to himself, then kissed it, then returned it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: O Messenger of Allah! May Allah Almighty honour you as you have honoured me. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the honoured one of a people comes to you, honour him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Awn bin Amr al-Qaysi, who is da'if (weak).

وَعَنْهُ قَالَ : لَمَّا بُعِثَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَتَيْتُهُ فَقَالَ لِي : " يَا جَرِيرُ ، لِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ جِئْتَنَا ؟ " . قُلْتُ : لِأُسْلِمَ عَلَى يَدَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . فَأَلْقَى إِلَيَّ كِسَاءَهُ ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ فَقَالَ : " إِذَا أَتَاكُمْ كَرِيمُ قَوْمٍ فَأَكْرِمُوهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ حُصَيْنُ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

It is narrated from him that he said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, I came to him, and he asked me: "O Jarir, for what have you come to us?" I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have come to accept Islam at your hand. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) held out his cloak to me, then turned to his Companions and said: "When the honoured one of a people comes to you, honour him."

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ دَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ وَهُوَ مَمْلُوءٌ ، فَلَمْ يَجِدْ مَجْلِسًا ، فَرَمَى إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - بِإِزَارِهِ أَوْ بِرِدَائِهِ وَقَالَ : " اجْلِسْ عَلَى هَذَا " . فَأَخَذَهُ ، فَقَبَّلَهُ وَضَمَّهُ إِلَيْهِ ، وَقَالَ : أَكْرَمَكَ اللَّهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - كَمَا أَكْرَمْتَنِي . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا أَتَاكُمْ كَرِيمُ قَوْمٍ فَأَكْرِمُوهُ " .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Jarir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) entered a house that was full of people and found no place to sit, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) threw his cloak to him and said: "Sit on this." وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ضُمَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ لَمْ يَرْحَمْ صَغِيرَنَا ، وَيَعْرِفْ حَقَّ كَبِيرِنَا ، وَلَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ غَشَّنَا ، وَلَا يَكُونُ الْمُؤْمِنُ مُؤْمِنًا حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ . وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنُ ضُمَيْرَةَ كَذَّابٌ .

Abdullah bin Dumayrah narrates from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not of us who does not show kindness to our young and does not recognise the right of our elder; and he is not of us who deceives us; and the believer is not a believer until he loves for the believers what he loves for himself."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrator Husayn bin Abdullah bin Dumayrah is a kadhdhab (liar).

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا أَتَاكُمْ كَرِيمُ قَوْمٍ فَأَكْرِمُوهُ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When an honoured one of a people comes to you, honour him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. The chain in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir contains Uyaynah bin Yaqzan, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy); the case of Malik bin al-Hasan bin Malik bin al-Huwayrith is the same; there is weakness in both of these narrators. The remaining narrators of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are thiqat (trustworthy).

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : دَخَلَ عُيَيْنَةُ بْنُ [ بَدْرٍ ، وَ ] حِصْنٌ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَعِنْدَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ ، وَهُمْ جُلُوسٌ جَمِيعًا عَلَى الْأَرْضِ ، فَدَعَا لِعُيَيْنَةَ بِنُمْرُقَةٍ ، فَأَجْلَسَهُ عَلَيْهَا ، وَقَالَ : " إِذَا أَتَاكُمْ كَرِيمُ قَوْمٍ فَأَكْرِمُوهُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Uyaynah bin Badr and Hisn came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). At that time Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and they were all sitting on the ground. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called for a cushion for Uyaynah, seated him on it and said: "When the honoured one of a people comes to you, honour him."

وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا أَتَاكُمْ كَرِيمُ قَوْمٍ فَأَكْرِمُوهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ ، وَقَالَ عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ : شَيْخٌ صَالِحٌ .

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the honoured one of a people comes to you, honour him."

وَعَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِذَا أَتَاكُمْ كَبِيرُ قَوْمٍ فَأَكْرِمُوهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَشَهْرٌ لَمْ يُدْرِكْ مُعَاذًا ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَقَالَ : رُبَّمَا أَخْطَأَ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَشَهْرٌ لَمْ يُدْرِكْ مُعَاذًا ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ ضَعِيفٌ وَقَدْ وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَقَالَ : رُبَّمَا أَخْطَأَ .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the honoured one of a people comes to you, honour him."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrator Shahr did not reach the time of Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him), and the narrator Abdullah bin Khirash is da'if (weak); Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy) and said: he sometimes makes mistakes.
