Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Nufayr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna Ibn Hawalah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the people complained to him of poverty, of not having adequate clothing, and of the scarcity of things. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Receive glad tidings! By Allah, I fear for you the abundance of things more than their scarcity. By Allah, this matter will remain among you until an army is conquered for you in Syria, an army in Iraq and an army in Yemen, to the point that a man will be given a hundred (dirhams, dinars or camels) and will be displeased with it." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hawalah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "How will we gain control of Syria, with the Romans there, who are mighty warriors?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It will be conquered for you, and you will be made rulers there, until a group from among them, with white shirts and shaved napes, will stand in attendance upon a little dark man from among you; whatever he commands them, they will carry out. And today there are men there in whose eyes you are more contemptible than ticks on the hindquarters of camels." After this, the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains, the narrators of one of which are the narrators of the Sahih, except Nasr bin Alqamah, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Hirah was shown to me like the fangs of dogs, and you will soon conquer it." A man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, grant me the daughter of Buqaylah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is yours." (When the city was conquered,) the people gave that woman to him. Her brother came and said: "Will you sell her?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then set whatever price you wish." He said: "One thousand dirhams." Her brother said: "I take her for one thousand dirhams." The people said to that man: "Had you said even thirty thousand dirhams, they would have given it." He said: "Is there any number greater than one thousand?"

Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had said: "When there is fighting, Abu Ubaydah will be your commander." The narrator says: We wrote to him that death was surging towards us, and we asked him for reinforcements. He wrote back to us: "Your letter has reached me in which you ask me for reinforcements. I am sending you that which is mightiest in giving help and most present in battle, and that is Allah Almighty, so ask Him for help. For when Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was helped on the day of Badr, (the Muslims) were fewer in number than you. When this letter of mine reaches you, fight the enemy and do not refer back to me again." The narrator says: We fought the enemy, killed them and drove them back four farsakhs. The narrator says: We obtained wealth and consulted one another about it, and Sayyiduna Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) advised us to give ten on behalf of each person. The narrator says: Once Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Who will race against me?" A young man said: "I will, if you will not be angry."
