Sayyiduna Khubayb bin Abi Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Hisham (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Ayyash bin Abi Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) had been severely wounded in the Battle of Yarmuk. Sayyiduna al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) asked for water. Ikrimah was looking at it, so he said: "Give it to Ikrimah first." The one giving it handed it towards Sayyiduna Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him), but Sayyiduna Ayyash bin Abi Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) was looking at it, so Sayyiduna Ikrimah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Give it to Ayyash." The water did not reach any of them before all three of them passed away, and they did not even taste it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. The narrator Khubayb did not live in the time of the Battle of Yarmuk, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
