Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Hirah was shown to me like the fangs of dogs, and you will soon conquer it." A man stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, grant me the daughter of Buqaylah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is yours." (When the city was conquered,) the people gave that woman to him. Her brother came and said: "Will you sell her?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then set whatever price you wish." He said: "One thousand dirhams." Her brother said: "I take her for one thousand dirhams." The people said to that man: "Had you said even thirty thousand dirhams, they would have given it." He said: "Is there any number greater than one thousand?"
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. This narration also has another route, a hadith from the person of this story, concerning the fighting against the apostates.
