One who shoots an arrow

Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his Companions: "Get up and fight." The narrator says: A man shot an arrow, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This man has made (Paradise) obligatory for himself."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, and the chains of both are hasan (good). Its remaining routes will come later in the Book of Tafsir, in the chapter on Surah al-Ma'idah.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah, whether it reaches the target or falls short, receives a reward like that of freeing four people from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him)."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Shabib bin Bishr, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but has some weakness.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection."
Al-Bazzar recorded it from his teacher Abd al-Rahman bin al-Fadl bin Muwaffaq; I do not know him. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of (the battle against) Qurayzah and al-Nadir, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever shoots an arrow into this fortress, Paradise becomes obligatory for him." Sayyiduna Utbah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I (on that occasion) sent three arrows (into the fortress).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Wahhab bin al-Dahhak, who is matruk (abandoned).

Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Abu Amr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), who was a Badri, an Aqabi and an Uhudi (that is, he had the honour of taking part in the Battle of Badr, the Pledge of Aqabah and the Battle of Uhud). He was fasting and was writhing from the intensity of thirst. He said to his slave: "Woe to you! Shield me." His slave shielded him, and he drew an arrow, drawing (the bow) weakly, and then shot three arrows. Then he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah, whether it reaches the target or falls short, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection." The narrator says: That Companion was martyred before sunset.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Muhammad bin Ubaydullah al-Arzami, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever's hair turns grey while in Islam, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah, whether it hits the target or misses, it will be for him like freeing a slave from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains, the narrators of one of which are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever's hair turns grey in Islam, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah, Allah Almighty records a rank for him because of it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except that Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd did not meet Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) says: A man's standing in the rank in the way of Allah is better for him than this world and everything in it. Whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah and it reaches (the target), whether it hits or misses, it is like freeing a slave. And whoever grows old in the way of Allah (that is, his hair turns grey), it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Yusuf bin Khalid al-Samti, who is da'if (weak).
