وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ : " مَنْ شَابَ شَيْبَةً فِي الْإِسْلَامِ كَانَتْ لَهُ نُورًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ رَمَى بِسَهْمٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ - أَخْطَأَ أَوْ أَصَابَ - كَانَ لَهُ مِثْلُ رَقَبَةٍ مِنْ وَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ رِجَالُ أَحَدِهِمَا ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever's hair turns grey while in Islam, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever shoots an arrow in the way of Allah, whether it hits the target or misses, it will be for him like freeing a slave from the descendants of Sayyiduna Isma'il (peace be upon him)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains, the narrators of one of which are thiqat (trustworthy).
