كِتَابُ الْخِلَافَةِ . 23 - 1 - 1 - بَابُ الْخُلَفَاءِ الْأَرْبَعَةِ . 8907 عَنْ عَلِيٍّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَوْمَ الْجُمَلِ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - لَمْ يَعْهَدْ إِلَيْنَا عَهْدًا نَأْخُذُ بِهِ فِي إِمَارَةٍ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ شَيْءٌ رَأَيْنَاهُ مِنْ قِبَلِ أَنْفُسِنَا ، ثُمَّ اسْتُخْلِفَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ - رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ - عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَأَقَامَ وَاسْتَقَامَ ، ثُمَّ اسْتُخْلِفَ عُمَرَ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى عُمَرَ فَأَقَامَ وَاسْتَقَامَ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ الدِّينُ بِجُرَّانِهِ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَفِيهِ رَجُلٌ لَمْ يُسَمَّ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

وَعَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ : عَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - رَجُلًا بِهِ جُرْحٌ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " ادْعُ لَهُ طَبِيبَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ " . قَالَ : فَدَعُوهُ فَجَاءَهُ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَيُغْنِي الدَّوَاءُ شَيْئًا ؟ فَقَالَ : " سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ! وَهَلْ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ - تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى - مِنْ دَاءٍ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا جَعَلَ لَهُ شِفَاءً " .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .

A man from the Ansar relates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit a man who had a wound. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Call the physician of such-and-such tribe for him. The narrator says: The people called him and he came. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Is medicine of any use? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah)! Allah Almighty has not sent down any disease on the earth without also making a cure for it.

وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ دَاءٍ إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ دَوَاءً ، عَلِمَ ذَلِكَ مَنْ عَلِمَهُ وَجَهِلَ ذَلِكَ مَنْ جَهِلَهُ ، إِلَّا السَّامَ " .
قَالُوا : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ وَمَا السَّامُ ؟ قَالَ : " الْمَوْتُ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ شَبِيبُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ زَكَرِيَّا السَّاجِيُّ : صَدُوقٌ يَهِمُ . وَضَعَّفَهُ الْجُمْهُورُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
قَالُوا : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ وَمَا السَّامُ ؟ قَالَ : " الْمَوْتُ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ شَبِيبُ بْنُ شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ زَكَرِيَّا السَّاجِيُّ : صَدُوقٌ يَهِمُ . وَضَعَّفَهُ الْجُمْهُورُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has not sent down any disease without also sending down a remedy for it. Whoever comes to know it knows it, and whoever remains unaware of it remains unaware, except for al-sam." The people said: O Prophet of Allah! What is meant by al-sam? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Death.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. قُلْتُ : رَوَى مِنْهُ ابْنُ مَاجَهْ : " مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ دَاءً إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ شِفَاءً " فَقَطْ .

Sayyiduna Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Allah Almighty has not sent down any disease without also sending down its remedy. Make it your practice to use cow's milk, for the cow eats from every kind of tree (its leaves and the like)."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Ibn Majah recorded only this part of the report: "Allah Almighty has not sent down any disease without also sending down its cure."

" يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، تَدَاوُوا ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - لَمْ يَخْلُقْ دَاءً إِلَّا خَلَقَ لَهُ شِفَاءً إِلَّا السَّامَ ، وَالسَّامُ : الْمَوْتُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
" يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، تَدَاوُوا ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - لَمْ يَخْلُقْ دَاءً إِلَّا خَلَقَ لَهُ شِفَاءً إِلَّا السَّامَ ، وَالسَّامُ : الْمَوْتُ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "O people! Use remedies, for Allah Almighty has not created any disease without also creating a cure for it, except for al-sam, and al-sam means death."

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، يَنْفَعُ الدَّوَاءُ مِنَ الْقَدَرِ ؟ فَقَالَ :

" الدَّوَاءُ مِنَ الْقَدَرِ ، وَقَدْ يَنْفَعُ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates: A man said: O Messenger of Allah! Does medicine benefit against what has been written in the divine decree? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Medicine too is part of the decree, and it gives cure by the permission of Allah."

وَعَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ رُقًى يُسْتَرْقَى بِهَا ، وَأَدْوِيَةٌ يُتَدَاوَى بِهَا ، هَلْ تَرُدُّ مِنَ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ :
" هِيَ قَدَرُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ صَالِحُ بْنُ أَبِي الْأَخْضَرِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ يُعْتَبَرُ حَدِيثُهُ .
" هِيَ قَدَرُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى " .

It is reported about Sayyiduna Hakim bin Hizam (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: O Messenger of Allah! The incantations (ruqyah) that are recited and the medicines that are used, do they turn back anything of the decree ordained by Allah Almighty? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: They themselves are the decree ordained by Allah Almighty.

وَعَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَ رُقًى يُسْتَرْقَى بِهَا ، وَأَدْوِيَةً يُتَدَاوَى بِهَا ، تَرُدُّ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " هِيَ قَدَرُ اللَّهِ " .

Al-Harith bin Sa'd reports from his father: I said: O Messenger of Allah! وَعَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ عَسَّالٍ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ :
" إِنَّ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - فَتَحَ بَابًا مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ مَسَافَتُهُ سَبْعُونَ خَرِيفًا لِلتَّوْبَةِ ، لَنْ يُغْلِقَهُ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا ، وَمَا غَدَا رَجُلٌ يَلْتَمِسُ عِلْمًا إِلَّا أَفْرَشَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ أَجْنِحَتَهَا ؛ رِضَاءً بِمَا يَعْمَلُ " .
قَالَتِ الْعَرَبُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَمْ يُعْطِ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا خَلَّةً وَاحِدَةً خَيْرٌ ؟ قَالَ : " حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ " . ثُمَّ قَالُوا لَهُ : أَنَتَدَاوَى ؟ قَالَ : " هَلْ عَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ الدَّاءَ أَنْزَلَ الدَّوَاءَ ، وَلَمْ يُنْزِلْ دَاءً إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ دَوَاءً ، إِلَّا دَاءً وَاحِدًا " . قَالُوا : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ فَمَا هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : " الْهَرَمُ " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ التَّدَاوِي وَحُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

قَالَتِ الْعَرَبُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَلَمْ يُعْطِ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا خَلَّةً وَاحِدَةً خَيْرٌ ؟ قَالَ : " حُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ " . ثُمَّ قَالُوا لَهُ : أَنَتَدَاوَى ؟ قَالَ : " هَلْ عَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ الدَّاءَ أَنْزَلَ الدَّوَاءَ ، وَلَمْ يُنْزِلْ دَاءً إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ دَوَاءً ، إِلَّا دَاءً وَاحِدًا " . قَالُوا : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ فَمَا هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : " الْهَرَمُ " .
قُلْتُ : رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ التَّدَاوِي وَحُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Safwan bin Assal (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has opened a door in the direction of the west whose (width) is a distance of seventy years; it is reserved for repentance, and Allah Almighty will not close it until the sun rises from the west. Whenever a man goes out in pursuit of knowledge, the angels spread their wings for him, out of pleasure with what he is doing." On that occasion the Arabs said: O Messenger of Allah! Has Allah Almighty not given a servant some trait that is better? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: It is good character. Then the people said to him: O Messenger of Allah! Should we use medicine? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do you know that the One who sent down disease also sent down medicine? He has not sent down any disease without also sending down a medicine for it, except for one disease. The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Which one is it? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Old age." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:

وَعَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ جُشَمَ قَالَ : سَقَيْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ دَوَاءً لِلْمَشْيِ .

Wahb bin Jusham relates: I gave Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) a medicine to drink for loosening the bowels.
