بَابُ اخْتِنَاثِ الْأَسْقِيَةِ ، وَالشُّرْبِ مِنَ الْإِدَاوَةِ ، وَثُلْمَةِ الْقَدَحِ .

عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - نَهَى عَنِ اخْتِنَاثِ الْأَسْقِيَةِ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ الْمُهَيْمِنِ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .

Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking by putting one's mouth to the waterskin.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration. Its chain contains Abd al-Muhaymin bin Abbas, and he is da'if (weak).

وَعَنِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : نَهَى أَنْ يُشْرَبَ مِنْ فِيِّ السِّقَاءِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade drinking from the mouth of the waterskin.

قُلْتُ : وَيَأْتِي حَدِيثُ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ فِي الشُّرْبِ قَائِمًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
قُلْتُ : وَيَأْتِي حَدِيثُ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ فِي الشُّرْبِ قَائِمًا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: He permitted drinking by putting one's mouth to the mouths of water vessels.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration. Its chain contains Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Yahya bin al-Rabi' bin Abi Rashid, and I do not know him. The remaining narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: the hadith of Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) about drinking while standing will come later, if Allah wills.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) say: It is disliked (makruh) to drink from the chipped (or broken) part of a cup, or from the handle of a cup.
