Ulaym narrates: We were sitting on a rooftop, and with us was one of the Companions. Ulaym says: To the best of my knowledge it was Sayyiduna Abs al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him). People were going out during the plague. Sayyiduna Abs (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O plague, take me! He said these words three times. Ulaym said to him: Why have you said this? Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not say: "None of you should wish for death, for at that point his deeds are cut off, and he will not be sent back so that he may make amends"? He replied: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Hasten towards death before six things: the rule of fools, an abundance of police, the selling of judgment, taking bloodshed lightly, severing the ties of kinship, and a new generation who will take the Qur'an as musical pipes; they will put forward a man who sings to them, even if he is the least of them in knowledge of the religion."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, except that he narrated these words: Sayyiduna Abis al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "They will put forward a man who is not the greatest jurist among them, nor the most knowledgeable of them, nor the most virtuous of them, but rather one who sings to them." Its chain contains Uthman bin Umayr, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: There is a hadith in my mind; if I were to narrate it to you, you would stone me. Then he said: O Allah, let me not reach the year 60 AH. The people said: What is the matter with the year 60 AH? He said: The rule of children will come, judgments will be sold, the police will be many, testimony will be given on the basis of acquaintance, the trust will be taken as booty, charity will be regarded as a penalty, and people will appear who will take the Qur'an as musical pipes. Hammad says: I think he also said: and bloodshed will be taken lightly.
