Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had forbidden visiting graves, had forbidden certain vessels, and had forbidden keeping the meat of sacrifices after three days. Then he said: "Previously I forbade you from visiting graves; now visit them, for they remind of the Hereafter. And I forbade you from (certain) vessels; now drink. And I forbid you from everything that intoxicates. And I forbade you from keeping the meat of sacrifices beyond three days; now keep as much as seems fitting to you." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the "Sahih" there is only the report from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he forbade the meat of sacrifices; it does not mention any permission.
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Nabighah, whom Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned; he neither declared him trustworthy nor criticised him.

Zubayd narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) came to his family and found a bowl of qadid (dried meat) made from the sacrificial meat, and he refused to eat it. Then he went to Sayyiduna Qatadah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) told him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and said: "I had previously instructed you not to keep (sacrificial) meat beyond three days; the reason for that was so that there would be room for you (that is, so that more people would get meat). Now I declare it lawful for you; eat of it as much as you wish. But do not sell the meat of the hady and of the sacrifices. Eat, give in charity, and make use of their skins, but do not sell them. And if you are fed some of its meat, then eat it if you wish." He said regarding this hadith that from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), these words are reported: "Now eat of it, trade, and store it." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A small portion of this report is recorded in the "Sahih".
Ahmad recorded it.
This report is mursal, but its chain is sahih (authentic).

Ibn Jurayj narrates: I was informed that Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) and Abu al-Zubayr reported this from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him); Abu al-Zubayr did not come to know this entire incident. (The incident is that) Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) came home and found a bowl of tharid made with the sacrificial meat, and he refused to eat it. He went to Sayyiduna Qatadah bin al-Nu'man (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him about it, and he informed him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up on the occasion of Hajj and said: "I had previously commanded you" Then the hadith continues as before.
Ahmad recorded it. In the chain of the report of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) there is a narrator who is not named, and Ibn Jurayj mostly narrates from the Tabi'un.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid us from eating the meat of our sacrifices beyond three days. The narrator says: I went on a journey, then I returned to my family, and that was some days after Eid al-Adha. My wife brought me a dish in which she had prepared qadid (dried meat). I asked her: Where did this qadid come from? She replied: It is from the meat of our sacrifice. I said to her: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not forbid us from eating it beyond three days? That woman said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had given the people permission after that. Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I did not believe her. I sent a message to my brother Qatadah bin al-Nu'man, who was a Companion who fought at Badr, and asked him about this. He sent back a message: Eat your food; that woman has spoken the truth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has granted the Muslims a concession in this matter. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith of Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) is recorded in the "Sahih"; I have cited this report because it is reported with reference to his wife.
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I had forbidden you from visiting graves; now visit them. And I had forbidden you from keeping the meat of sacrifices beyond three days; now keep it. And I had forbidden you from certain vessels; now prepare nabidh in them, but avoid everything that intoxicates." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Various chains of narration with this meaning will come later in the chapter on drinks, if Allah wills.

Sulayman bin Abi Sulayman narrates from his mother Umm Sulayman (both of them are thiqah (trustworthy)) that she said: I went to Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and asked her about the meat of sacrifices, since the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to forbid it and then he gave a concession for it. Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from a journey, and Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) brought him meat from her sacrifice. Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not forbid this? Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has given permission for it. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: (The hadith) from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) is reported in the "Sahih", but it does not contain the incident of Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her); that is why Imam Ahmad recorded this report in the Musnad of Ahmad, in the section of the Musnad of Fatimah.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, and he says: The woman named Umm Sulayman narrated no hadith other than this one. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This woman has been declared trustworthy, as is reported in the "Musnad", and the remaining narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): He had forbidden the nabidh of earthen jars, keeping the meat of sacrifices beyond three days, and visiting graves. Then he said: Previously I forbade you from the nabidh of earthen jars; now prepare nabidh in whatever (vessel) you see fit, for a vessel makes nothing lawful or unlawful. And I forbade you from keeping the meat of sacrifices beyond three days; now keep as much of it as seems fitting to you. And I forbade you from visiting graves; now visit them, for they remind of the Hereafter.
Al-Bazzar and Ahmad recorded it, and their narrated hadith will come later in the chapter on drinks. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Harith bin Nabhan, and he is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reports about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): He had forbidden eating the meat of sacrifices after three days, preparing nabidh in earthen jars, and visiting graves. After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Previously I forbade you from eating the meat of sacrifices after three days; now eat as much as you wish. And I forbade you from preparing nabidh in earthen jars; now drink, but every intoxicant is unlawful. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I had forbidden you from the nabidh of earthen jars, I had forbidden you from visiting graves, and I had forbidden you regarding (the meat of) sacrifices. Listen, vessels make nothing lawful or unlawful. Listen, visit the graves, for they soften the heart." The narrator named Abdullah added these words in his narration: "Listen, I had forbidden you from the meat of sacrifices; now eat, and store as much as you wish." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the "Sahih" there is a hadith from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the meat of sacrifices and vessels, but it does not mention that permission was later given in this regard.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Aban al-Raqashi, in whom there is weakness, though he has been declared trustworthy.
