Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood between the men and the women. He first urged the men to give charity, then he turned towards the women and urged them to give charity. Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), sent Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: Tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that a woman from the Muhajirun sends her greetings of peace. Do not disclose to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (that it was I who said this). Say to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Will a woman receive reward with regard to her husband, who is from the Muhajirun and has nothing, and the orphans in her care, who are her brother's sons, if she spends her charity on them (the children and her husband)? Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: Yes. That woman will receive a double reward: the reward of fulfilling the rights of kinship and the reward of giving charity.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded something similar. Its chain contains a narrator, Hajjaj bin Nasr, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is criticism about him. The narrators of al-Bazzar are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the morning (Fajr) prayer and came to the women in the mosque. He stopped by them and said: O assembly of women! I have not seen any beings deficient in intellect and religion who carry away the hearts of men of understanding more quickly than you. And I have seen that on the Day of Resurrection the majority of the people of Hell will be from you, so strive as much as you can to draw near to Allah Almighty. Among those women was the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). She came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him what she had heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She took her jewellery. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) asked: Where are you going with your jewellery? She said: Through it I wish to draw near to Allah Almighty and His Messenger, hoping that Allah Almighty will not make me one of the people of Hell. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Woe to you! Bring it and give it in charity to me and to my children, for we are deserving of it. She said: No, first I will go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (and ask him about this). Then that woman went and sought permission to enter upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The people said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Zaynab is asking permission to come in. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Which Zaynab? The people said: The wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Let her come in. That woman came into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I heard your speech, then went back to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him about it. I took my jewellery so that I could draw near to Allah Almighty and to you, hoping that Allah Almighty would not make me one of the people of Hell. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Give it (the jewellery) in charity to me and my children, for we are deserving of it. I said: Not until I take permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (will I do so). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give it (the jewellery) in charity to him and his children, for it is their right. Then that woman said: O Messenger of Allah! I heard you when you stopped by us. You said: I have not seen any beings deficient in intellect and religion who carry away the hearts of men of understanding more quickly than you. She said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the deficiency in our religion and our intellect? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The deficiency in your religion that I mentioned refers to the menstruation that befalls you women; a woman remains in it for as long as Allah wills, and during that time she neither prays nor fasts. This is the deficiency in your religion. And as for the deficiency in intellect that I mentioned, it refers to your testimony as women: the testimony of a woman is half the testimony of a man.
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of this report is transmitted in the Sahih.
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, and the narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy).

It is reported about Sayyidah Ra'itah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and the mother of his child, that she was a woman skilled in handicraft. The narrator says: She used to spend her earnings on Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and on his children. She says: I said to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): You and your children have kept me from giving charity; with you all, I am unable to give anything in charity. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to her: By Allah, I would not like you to have to do this if there were no reward for you in it. That woman came into the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I am a woman who does handiwork which I sell. Apart from this income, neither I, nor my children, nor my husband have any other means of support. Because of them I am unable to give anything in charity. So will I receive reward for what I spend on them? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to that woman: "Spend on them, for you will receive reward for whatever you spend on them."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir) recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Ibn Ishaq, who is a mudallis (one who practises concealment in narration), but he is thiqah (trustworthy), and he has been corroborated.

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out on the day of Eid al-Adha, or perhaps Eid al-Fitr. He led the prayer, and when he had finished the prayer he exhorted and admonished the people and commanded them to give charity. He said: O people! Give charity. Then he turned from there and passed by the women. He said to them: Give charity, for I have seen that the majority of the people of Hell are from you (that is, women). The women asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the reason for that? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Because you curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen any beings deficient in intellect and religion who carry away the heart of a sensible man more quickly than any one of you, O assembly of women! The women said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the deficiency in a woman's intellect and religion? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Is not the testimony of a woman half the testimony of a man? That is due to the deficiency in her intellect. Is it not that when a woman menstruates she does not pray? They said: Yes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That is the deficiency in her religion. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left from there until he reached his house. The wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came to him and asked permission to come in. It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) is asking permission to come in. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Which Zaynab? It was said: The wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Give her permission. He gave her permission, and that woman said: O Prophet of Allah! Today you commanded us to give charity. I had some jewellery, and I intended to give it in charity, but Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) held that he and his children are more entitled than anyone for me to give it to them in charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ibn Mas'ud has spoken the truth. Your husband and your children are more entitled than anyone for you to give it to them in charity."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyidah Jamrah bint Quhafah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: During the Farewell Hajj I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "O assembly of women! Give charity, even if it be from your jewellery, for the majority of the people of Hell are from you." Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) came and said: O Messenger of Allah! My husband is in need; is it permissible for me to help him? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes! In this way you will receive a double reward.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator, al-Hasan bin Azib; I have not found anyone who has written his biography.
