Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By the One who sent me with the truth, on the Day of Resurrection Allah Almighty will not punish the person who shows mercy to an orphan, speaks gently to him, shows mercy to him for his being an orphan and for his weakness, and does not vaunt himself over his neighbour because of the surplus that Allah Almighty has given him." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Ummah of Muhammad! By the One who sent me with the truth, Allah Almighty does not accept the charity of a man whose relatives are in need of his kindness while he gives that charity to others. By the One in whose Hand is my soul, Allah Almighty will not look at that person on the Day of Resurrection."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Amir al-Aslami, who is da'if (weak); Abu Hatim said: He is not matruk (abandoned). The remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
