Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood between the men and the women. He first urged the men to give charity, then he turned towards the women and urged them to give charity. Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), sent Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: Tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that a woman from the Muhajirun sends her greetings of peace. Do not disclose to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (that it was I who said this). Say to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Will a woman receive reward with regard to her husband, who is from the Muhajirun and has nothing, and the orphans in her care, who are her brother's sons, if she spends her charity on them (the children and her husband)? Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: Yes. That woman will receive a double reward: the reward of fulfilling the rights of kinship and the reward of giving charity.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar recorded something similar. Its chain contains a narrator, Hajjaj bin Nasr, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is criticism about him. The narrators of al-Bazzar are the narrators of the Sahih.
