The takbir in the funeral prayer

Yahya bin Abdullah al-Jabir says: In al-Mada'in I offered a funeral prayer behind Isa, the freed slave of Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said five takbirs. Then he turned towards us and said: "I have neither been mistaken nor forgotten; rather, I said the takbir just as my master and benefactor, Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him), said it. He said five takbirs while leading a funeral prayer, and then turned towards us and said: 'I have neither forgotten nor been mistaken; rather, I said the takbir just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said it. He said five takbirs in a funeral prayer.'"
Ahmad recorded it. The narrator Yahya al-Jabir has been criticised.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) led the funeral prayer of Sayyiduna Sahl bin Hunayf (may Allah be pleased with him) and said six takbirs over him. Then he turned towards us and said: "He was one of the people of Badr."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: For the funeral prayer there is neither a fixed time nor a fixed number. He meant the takbir.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said seven takbirs, and five, and four. When you put the imam forward, say as many takbirs as the imam says.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who has been criticised, and he is hasan al-hadith (sound in hadith).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said nine takbirs each when offering the funeral prayer over those killed at the Battle of Uhud; then (in funeral prayers (peace and blessings be upon him)) he said seven takbirs each, then four takbirs each, until he went to meet Allah Almighty.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (when leading funeral prayers) said seven takbirs over the people of Badr and five takbirs over Banu Hashim, and in the last funeral prayer he led he said four takbirs, until he departed from this world.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Nafi' Abu Hurmuz, who is da'if (weak).
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the chapter on the funeral prayer in absentia a hadith will come stating that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said five takbirs in the funeral prayer of the Negus (al-Najashi).

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you shrouds his brother, let him give him a good shroud. And when you offer the funeral prayer for the deceased, by night or by day, say four takbirs; the ruling for night and day is the same in this."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: I have recorded it here for these words of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "four takbirs". Part of the rest of it is reported in the Sahih, and Ibn Majah also recorded part of it.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, who has been criticised.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the funeral prayer of his son, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), and said four takbirs over him.
Abu Ya'la recorded it. Its chain contains Muhammad bin Ubaydullah al-Arzami, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the funeral prayer of his son, Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), and said four takbirs in it.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Malik bin Mighwal, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: In the last funeral prayer that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led, he said four takbirs.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains al-Nadr Abu Umar, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The angels washed Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), said four takbirs over Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), and said: 'O children of Adam, this is your way.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Uthman bin Sa'd, whom Abu Nu'aym and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while a group declared him da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Amir bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) leading the funeral prayer of Sayyiduna Uthman bin Maz'un (may Allah be pleased with him); he said four takbirs, stood at his grave, and threw three double handfuls (of earth) onto him.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains al-Qasim bin Abdullah al-Umari, who is matruk (abandoned).

Imran bin Abi Ata' says: I was present with Sayyiduna Muhammad bin al-Hanafiyyah (may Allah be pleased with him) when Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed away in Ta'if. Sayyiduna Muhammad bin al-Hanafiyyah (may Allah be pleased with him) led his funeral prayer and said four takbirs, and he took him from the direction of the qiblah and lowered him into the grave, and he kept a tent pitched over his grave for three days.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
