One who sleeps until morning

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever any male or female sleeps, a rope is tied on his head in which three knots are tied. If a person wakes up and remembers Allah Almighty, one knot comes undone; if he gets up and performs ablution, another knot comes undone; and if he gets up and goes to the prayer, all the knots come undone."
This narration was recorded by Imam Ahmad and Imam Abu Ya'la, and they recorded these additional words: "And he is in an energetic state, having attained good. And if he stays asleep and does not remember Allah Almighty until morning comes, his knots become heavy." The narrators of this narration are the narrators of the "Sahih".
This narration was recorded by Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and he recorded these additional words: "If he wakes up, Satan says to him: 'Rest, the night is very long, stay asleep.' Then Satan ties the knot upon him."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When a person sleeps, a knot is tied on his head with a rope. If he gets up and remembers Allah Almighty, one knot comes undone; if he goes and performs ablution, the second knot comes undone; and if he goes and performs the prayer, the third knot comes undone. And if he reaches the morning in such a state that he did not wake up at all at night and did not perform the morning prayer, he reaches the morning in such a state that the rope is upon him. The narrator says: By this is meant the rope. I say:
This narration is reported in the "Sahih" as a "marfu'" hadith in abridged form.
This narration was recorded by Imam Ahmad, and its narrators are the narrators of the "Sahih".

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The people mentioned a man before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) a man said: "O Messenger of Allah! So-and-so stays asleep until morning; he does not pray until morning comes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan has urinated in his ear." Hasan al-Basri says: By Allah! His urine is heavy.
This narration was recorded by Imam Ahmad, and its narrators are the narrators of the "Sahih".

Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Satan has a kohl to apply and a lick to taste. When a human being applies his kohl, his eyes sleep, neglecting remembrance; and when he licks from his lick, his tongue spreads evil."
This narration was recorded by Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hakam bin Abd al-Malik al-Qurashi, who is da'if (weak). The hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) has passed before in the Book of Purification, in which it is mentioned: when he washes his hand, a knot comes undone; when he washes the other hand, a knot comes undone; and other matters are mentioned in the same way.

Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a servant intends to pray at night, an angel comes to him and says: 'Get up, morning is about to come; pray and remember your Lord.' Then Satan comes to him and says: 'The night is still very long, rest; you can get up a little later.' If he gets up and prays, he reaches the morning energetic, light in body and with his eyes cooled; and if he obeys Satan, then when morning comes Satan urinates in his ear." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is reported in the "Sahih" in abridged form.
This narration was recorded by Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Amr bin al-Husayn, who is da'if (weak). The hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) will come in the chapter concerning the one who "collects the tithe in zakah".
