Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When a person sleeps, a knot is tied on his head with a rope. If he gets up and remembers Allah Almighty, one knot comes undone; if he goes and performs ablution, the second knot comes undone; and if he goes and performs the prayer, the third knot comes undone. And if he reaches the morning in such a state that he did not wake up at all at night and did not perform the morning prayer, he reaches the morning in such a state that the rope is upon him. The narrator says: By this is meant the rope. I say:
