Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When the imam gets stuck (in his recitation), do not prompt him, for that is speech.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

(After finishing the prayer) he said: "Which of you will correct me regarding my recitation?" Sayyiduna Ubayy said: "O Messenger of Allah, I will. You left out such-and-such a verse." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I knew that if anyone could correct me, it would be you."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b said: "O Messenger of Allah, has such-and-such a verse been abrogated, or were you made to forget it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I forgot it."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani recorded it, both of them from Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Abza, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No." Then he said: "Why did you not prompt me with it?"
These are the words of al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Sulayman bin Arqam, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) hesitated over a verse in the Fajr prayer. When he completed the prayer, he looked at the people and asked: "Did Ubayy bin Ka'b not pray with you?" The people said: "No." The narrator says: The people understood that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had asked about him because he would have prompted him.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its narrators are all thiqat (trustworthy) except Qays bin al-Rabi', whom Yahya al-Qattan and others declared da'if (weak), while Shu'bah and al-Thawri declared him thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led a prayer, and during the prayer he became confused (in the recitation). When he had completed it, he asked Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him): "Did you pray with us?" He said: "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then why did you not prompt me?" (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud recorded this narration, but he did not record these words: "Why did you not prompt me?"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.

When the prayer was completed, he said: "O Messenger of Allah, has this verse been abrogated, or were you made to forget it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No; rather, I was made to forget it."

When he finished, he asked: "How did you find my prayer?" The people said: "You prayed very well." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I forgot a verse; and part of the excellence of a man's prayer is that he pays attention to the imam's recitation."
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Yahya bin Kathir, the companion of al-Basri, who is da'if (weak).
