Excuses for missing the congregation

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The concession to leave the congregation has been given only to one who is in fear or who is ill.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Yusuf bin Atiyyah al-Bahili, and he is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the evening meal is served, and the prayer and the meal come together, then eat first."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ayyub bin Utbah, whom, according to one report, Imam Ahmad and Yahya bin Ma'in declared thiqah (trustworthy). Imam al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) declared him da'if (weak), and according to (other) reports Imam Ahmad and Yahya bin Ma'in also declared him weak.

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the evening meal is served and the time for prayer has also come, then eat first."
Imam Ahmad, Imam Abu Ya'la and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded this narration, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); they heard from one another.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this as a marfu' hadith (attributed to the Prophet): He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the evening meal is served and the prayer has been started, then eat first."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the evening meal is served and the prayer has been started, then eat first."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Saghir; its chain contains a narrator, Isma'il bin Amr al-Bajali, whom Abu Hatim declared da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When the prayer has been started and one of you is fasting, he should eat before the Maghrib prayer. Do not hurry away from your evening meal." I say: This narration is reported in the Sahih, but without these words: "and one of you is fasting."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: On the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, on a rainy day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The prayer is to be offered at your lodgings."
Imam Ahmad, Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and Imam al-Bazzar recorded something similar, though he added these words: "He disliked that it should be a hardship for us." The narrators of Imam Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Nu'aym bin al-Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him) states: On a cold night, while I was in my quilt, I heard the mu'adhdhin of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I wished that he would say: "Pray at your lodgings." When the mu'adhdhin said "Hayya ala al-falah," he then said: "Pray at your lodgings." Later I asked about this and learned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had ordered the mu'adhdhin to do so.
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator whose name has not been mentioned.

Sayyiduna Nu'aym bin al-Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him) states: On a cold day the adhan was called for the morning prayer, and at that time I was with my wife under the quilt. I thought: I wish the mu'adhdhin would say: "Whoever stays seated (that is, does not attend the congregational prayer), there is no harm." When the caller of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the end of the adhan, he said: "Whoever stays seated, there is no harm."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded this narration, but he reported these words: When he said "Al-salatu khayrun min al-nawm (Prayer is better than sleep)," he then said: "Whoever stays seated, there is no harm." Isma'il bin Ayyash narrated this from Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari al-Madani, and his narrations from the people of Hijaz are rejected. Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration with another chain, whose narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Nu'aym bin al-Nahham (may Allah be pleased with him) states: I was with my wife under the quilt; it was a cold morning. The caller of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to call the adhan for Fajr. When I heard him, I thought: I wish he would say: "Whoever stays seated, there is no harm." When he said "Al-salatu khayrun min al-nawm (Prayer is better than sleep)," he then said: "Whoever stays seated, there is no harm."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy (muwaththaqun), except for Imam al-Tabarani's teacher Abdullah bin Wuhayb al-Ghazzi, whose case is different, for I do not know him.

Amr bin Aws states: The Companion who heard the caller of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told me that when he called the iqamah for the prayer, or when the time of prayer came (the narrator is in doubt, or the words were something like this), he said: "Pray at your lodgings." He said this because of rain.
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
