Majma al-Zawaid 2189 — Excuses for missing the congregation
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ : " إِذَا حَضَرَ الْعَشَاءُ وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَابْدَؤُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this as a marfu' hadith (attributed to the Prophet): He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the evening meal is served and the prayer has been started, then eat first."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
