Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were travelling with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and we camped at a place where there was a lot of garlic. Some of the Muslims took some of it. When those people came to the place of prayer to pray behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them from doing so. After that, when they came to the place of prayer and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) noticed the smell of garlic from them, he said: "Whoever has eaten from this plant must not come near our mosque."
