Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When I was taken on the night journey and the next morning I was in Makkah, I became distressed about my situation, and I realized that the people would call me a liar. So I sat apart, grieving." The enemy of Allah, Abu Jahl, passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he came and sat down beside the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and in a mocking manner he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Has anything happened?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" He asked: "What is it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Last night I was taken on a journey." He asked: "To where?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To Bayt al-Maqdis." He asked: "And then (now) you are here among us as well?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" He did not show the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he was calling him a liar, fearing that if he brought the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) people to him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might deny what he had said. He asked: "What do you think: if I bring your people, will you tell them what you have told me?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" He said: "O Banu Ka'b bin Lu'ayy, come here!" So the people sitting in various gatherings came towards him; they came and sat down with the two of them. Abu Jahl said: "Tell your people what you told me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Last night I was taken on a journey." They asked: "To where?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To Bayt al-Maqdis." They said: "And then in the morning (that is, now) you are here among us as well?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes!" So some of them clapped, and some expressed amazement and placed their hands on their heads, thinking it was a falsehood. They said: "Can you describe that mosque to us?" Some of those people had travelled to that city and had seen the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: "I began describing it, and while describing it I became confused. Then the mosque was brought while I was watching, until it was placed behind the house of Aqil (the narrator is unsure; or perhaps the words are: the house of Iqal), and I began describing that mosque while looking at it."
The narrator says: In this narration there were also words describing it (the mosque), but I have not remembered them. The narrator says: Those people said: "As for the description, by Allah, he has described it correctly."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. The narrators of Imam Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the night I was taken on the night journey, I came upon a pure fragrance. I asked: O Jibril! Whose is this pure fragrance? He said: This is the fragrance of the woman who combed the hair of Pharaoh's daughter, and of her children. I asked: What is her story? He said: Once this woman was combing the hair of Pharaoh's daughter when the comb fell from her hand, and she said: (I begin) with the name of Allah Almighty, seeking blessing. Pharaoh's daughter asked her: Do you mean my father? The woman replied: No! I mean my Lord and your father's Lord, Allah Almighty. Pharaoh's daughter said: Shall I tell my father this? The woman said: Yes! Pharaoh's daughter told Pharaoh, and Pharaoh summoned the woman and said: O so-and-so! Do you have a lord other than me? The woman replied: Yes! My Lord and your Lord is Allah Almighty. At Pharaoh's command a copper vessel was heated, and then Pharaoh ordered that the woman and her children be thrown into it. Before that, the woman said to Pharaoh: I have a request of you. Pharaoh asked: What is your request? The woman replied: I ask that you gather my bones and the bones of my children in a single cloth and then bury us together. Pharaoh said: That is a duty upon us. Then Pharaoh ordered that her children be thrown into it one by one in front of the woman. This was done until the turn came of the woman's nursing infant. The woman was distressed because of this child, and he (the nursing infant) said: O mother! Have courage, for the punishment of this world is lighter than the punishment of the Hereafter. So the woman leapt in."
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: Four children spoke in infancy: Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him), the child in the incident of Jurayj, the witness of Sayyiduna Yusuf (peace be upon him), and the son of the woman who combed the hair of Pharaoh's daughter.
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but suffered from confusion (ikhtilat).

Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: "The roof of my house was opened while I was in Makkah. Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) descended, opened my chest and then washed it with Zamzam water. Then he brought a basin filled with wisdom and faith, poured it into my chest and then closed it. Then he took my hand and ascended with me towards the sky. When we came to the lowest heaven, he asked for the gate to be opened. It was asked (from the other side): Who is it? He replied: Jibril. It was asked (from the other side): Is anyone with you? He replied: Yes! With me is Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). It was asked (from the other side): Has he been sent for? Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) replied: Yes! So the gate was opened. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: When we came to the lowest heaven, there was a man there; on his right were many people and on his left were many people. When he looked to his right he would smile, and when he looked to his left he would weep. He said (addressing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)): Welcome to the righteous Prophet and the righteous son! The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: I asked Jibril: Who is this? He said: This is Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), and the people on his right and on his left are the souls of his descendants. Those on the right are the people of Paradise and those on the left are the people of Hell. When he looks to the right he laughs, and when he looks to the left he weeps. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Then Jibril took me up until he reached the second heaven, and he said to its gatekeeper: Open the gate! Its gatekeeper held the same exchange that the gatekeeper of the lowest heaven had held, and then he too opened the gate."
Abdullah recorded this narration in his "Zawa'id" on the "Musnad" of his father (Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal), and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the night I was taken on the Mi'raj, when we reached the seventh heaven and I looked upward (here one narrator transmitted the wording: I looked above myself), there was thunder and flashing lightning. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: I came upon some people whose bellies were like houses, and in them were snakes that could be seen from outside their bellies. I asked: O Jibril! Who are these people? He said: These are those who consume usury (riba). When, coming down, I reached the lowest heaven and looked below me, there before me were wind, voices and smoke. I asked: O Jibril! What is this? He said: These are devils who hover over the eyes of the children of Adam so that they do not reflect upon the dominion of the heavens and the earth; were it not for that, they would see wonders."
Imam Ahmad recorded it, and Imam Ibn Majah recorded from it the story of those who consume usury. Its chain contains a narrator, Abu al-Salt, who is not known, and no one besides Ali bin Zayd narrated from him.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "On the night I was taken on the Mi'raj, I saw that I placed my feet in Bayt al-Maqdis where the feet of the prophets (peace be upon them) used to be placed. Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him) was presented before me, and among people the one who most closely resembles him is Urwah bin Mas'ud. Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) was presented before me, and his appearance was such that he seemed to be a man of the Shanu'ah tribe. Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) was presented before me, and among people the one who most closely resembles him is your master (that is, the Prophet himself)."
Imam Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Umar bin Abi Salamah. Imam Ahmad, Yahya bin Ma'in and Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy), while Ali bin al-Madini and others declared him da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken by night to Bayt al-Maqdis, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned that same night. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told the people about his journey, about the signs of Bayt al-Maqdis and about their camels. Some people said: "We affirm Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in what he says," but after that those people apostatized and became disbelievers, and Allah Almighty struck off their necks along with Abu Jahl. Abu Jahl said: "Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) frightens us with this tree of Zaqqum! Bring dates and butter and gulp them down!"
After this the narrator narrated the full hadith. Imam Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except for Hilal bin Khabbab: Yahya al-Qattan says that he suffered a change (in memory) before he died, while Yahya bin Ma'in says: He neither changed nor fell into confusion (ikhtilat); he is thiqah (trustworthy) and reliable (ma'mun).
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded the same narration and transmitted these additional words:
"Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw the Dajjal in his actual form, and this seeing was with the eye, not seeing in a dream. Likewise the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also saw Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him) and Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the Dajjal, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I saw him: he was huge and bulky, of clear complexion; one of his eyes stood out like a shining star, and his hair was like the branches of a tree. I saw Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him): he was a young man of fair complexion, his hair slightly curly, his sight sharp and his body lean. And I saw Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him): he was of wheatish complexion, with abundant hair and a strong body. I also saw Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him): whatever part of his body I looked at, it seemed as if he were your master (that is, the Prophet himself). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Jibril (peace be upon him) said to me: Greet your forefather (Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him)). So I greeted him."
