Sayyiduna Ma'n bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) states: A Bedouin came and took hold of the rein of the she-camel of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Prophet of Allah! Guide me to a deed that will bring me close to Paradise and keep me far from Hell. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have asked briefly, but you have asked about a great matter. Worship Allah Almighty and do not associate anyone with Him as a partner; perform the five prayers; fast in Ramadan; and whatever you dislike people doing to you, dislike that for them too."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain contains a narrator, Wa'il Abu Kulayb bin Wa'il; I have not seen anyone mention him.

Ubaydullah bin Umayr al-Laythi narrates this statement from his father: On the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the friends of Allah are those who pray: the one who performs the five prayers which Allah Almighty has made obligatory upon him, fasts in Ramadan seeking reward for his fasting, pays zakah with a glad heart seeking reward, and avoids the major sins which Allah Almighty has forbidden (such people too are friends of Allah)." One of his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions said: O Messenger of Allah! How many are the major sins? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "They are nine, the greatest of which is associating partners with Allah. (The other major sins are:) killing a believer unjustly, fleeing from the battlefield, slandering a chaste woman, practising magic, consuming the wealth of an orphan, consuming usury (riba), disobeying Muslim parents, and violating the sanctity of the Ancient House (al-Bayt al-Atiq), which is sacred and is your qiblah in life and in death. Whoever dies in such a state that he has not committed any of these major sins, and he establishes prayer and pays zakah, such a person will be with Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in the midst of Paradise, whose doors have leaves made of gold."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say that Imam Abu Dawud recorded part of the narration.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.

Abdullah bin Shaqiq narrates this statement from a Companion belonging to "Balqayn": I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was at Wadi al-Qura. I said: O Messenger of Allah! What have you been commanded with? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been commanded that you worship Allah and do not associate anyone with Him as a partner, and that you perform prayer and give zakah. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Who are these people (that is, the Jews)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (They are those) upon whom wrath has fallen. I said: Who are these people (that is, the Christians)? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (They are those) who are astray. I said: O Messenger of Allah! For whom are the spoils of war? He said: One share (that is, the khums, a fifth) will be for Allah Almighty, and four shares will be for the people. I asked: Is anyone more entitled to the spoils than anyone else? He said: No! Even the arrow that one of you pulls out of his side, he is not more entitled to it than anyone else.
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its chain is sahih (authentic).
