Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am only a human being, and you bring your disputes to me. Some of you may prevail over others in presenting their arguments, and I judge according to what I hear. If I judge in someone's favour concerning his brother's right, let him not take it, but let him understand that I am giving him a piece of Hellfire."

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard the voices of people disputing at his door. He (peace and blessings be upon him) went out to them and said: "I am a human being, and you bring your disputes to me. Perhaps some are more eloquent, and I may judge in his favour thinking him truthful. So whoever I judge in favour of (with a Muslim's right), it is a piece of Hellfire, whether he takes it or leaves it."

Alqamah bin Wa'il narrated from his father (Wa'il bin Hujr, may Allah be pleased with him) that a man from Hadramawt and another from Kindah came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Hadrami said: "This man has taken possession of my land, which belonged to my father." The Kindi said: "This land is mine; I cultivate it; he has no right (in it)." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the Hadrami: "Do you have any evidence?" He said: "No." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Then) you are owed his oath." The Hadrami said: "O Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Nothing stops him from swearing (he will swear falsely)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is nothing for you but his oath." So he (the Kindi) went forward to take the oath. When he turned away, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes someone's wealth by means of an oath, when he meets Allah on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will be turning away from him."
(b) In the hadith of Abu al-Walid: "There is nothing for you but that."
(c) In the hadith of Abu al-Ahwas it is likewise.
