Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that Hind bint Utbah, the wife of Abu Sufyan, came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "My husband Abu Sufyan is a stingy man; he does not give enough maintenance to suffice me and my children, but I take from his wealth without his knowledge. Will there be any sin on me?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take, in a fair manner, as much as suffices you and your children."

Urwah narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) sent someone to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), asking for her inheritance from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from what Allah had granted him in Madinah, namely Fadak and the fifth of Khaybar. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "We are not inherited from; what we leave is charity. The family of Muhammad will only eat from this wealth." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I will not change the least thing in this charity from how it was in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); I will do with it just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) declined to hand over the wealth to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her).
