Ibn al-Madini (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I said to Sufyan (may Allah have mercy on him) that some narrate this hadith from only one (Companion). He said: But I narrate it to you from al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him), who said: Ubaydullah narrated to us from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah, Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid and Sayyiduna Shibl (may Allah be pleased with them): We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sufyan said: We memorized this from the mouth of al-Zuhri, and by my life, we mastered it thoroughly.
The Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This is how Ibn Uyaynah narrated it; as for the rest of al-Zuhri's students, such as Malik bin Anas, Salih bin Kaysan, Uqayl bin Khalid, Shu'ayb bin Abi Hamzah, Ma'mar bin Rashid, Yunus bin Yazid, al-Layth bin Sa'd and others, they did not mention Shibl in it. And Allah knows best.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was sitting in the mosque when a man came and began talking in a roundabout way, and he was agitated. So he said to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): Ask him what has happened; is there some matter? Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went to him, and he told him that a guest had stayed with him and had intercourse with his daughter. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) struck him on the chest and said: May Allah disgrace you! Why did you not conceal (the matter of) your daughter? Then Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) summoned them both, applied the prescribed punishment, then married them, and exiled them for one year.
Ali (Ibn al-Madini) said: This is how Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated it from Nafi' from Ibn Umar, but Ubaydullah bin Umar differed with him in its chain and its wording.
