Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: There was an effeminate man with me, and he said to my brother Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): "If Allah Almighty grants you victory over al-Ta'if tomorrow, I will tell you about the daughter of Ghaylan: she comes forward with four (folds) and goes back with eight (folds)." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After today this one is not to enter (the house)."

Musa bin Abd al-Rahman bin Ayyash (may Allah have mercy on him) said: In the time of the Messenger there were three effeminate men: Mati', Hadm and Hit. Mati' used to stay with Sayyidah Fakhitah bint Amr (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the maternal aunt of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he also used to come and go in the houses of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the occasion of al-Ta'if came, he said to Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him): If Allah grants you victory over al-Ta'if, then seize the daughter of Ghaylan; she comes forward with four and goes back with eight. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard this, he said: "I did not know that this wicked one notices such things too. After today these are not to come into the houses." Then when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned and reached the place called Dhu al-Hulayfah, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He is not to enter Madinah." And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered Madinah. It was said to him (peace and blessings be upon him): He is poor; let him come, he has no other means besides this. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted him one day a week to come, get the things he needed, and leave. It remained like this in the era of (Abu Bakr) al-Siddiq and in the time of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and along with him Hadm and Hit had also been exiled.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that an effeminate man was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who had applied henna to his hands and feet. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What is the matter with this one?" It was said: He imitates women. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) exiled him to al-Naqi'. The people said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall we not kill him?" He said: "I have been forbidden from killing those who pray."
