Al-Harith bin Bilal narrates from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) collected charity from the old mines. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gave Bilal bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) the land of al-Aqiq. In his time, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not give it to you so that you would keep it from the people; rather, he gave it to you to work it. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) allotted that land among the people.

Abdullah bin Abi Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: Sayyiduna Bilal bin al-Harith al-Muzani (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him for land as an estate, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave him a long and wide piece of land. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became caliph, he said: O Bilal! You obtained a long and wide piece of land from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would not turn away anyone who asked; and you are not able to manage what you have. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Look at what you are able to manage, keep that much and give the rest, and we will divide it among the Muslims. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will not do so, by Allah, with what the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) granted me. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By Allah, you shall do it. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took from him the land he was unable to cultivate and divided it among the Muslims.

Ibn Tawus narrates from his father, and he from a man of Madinah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the place called al-Aqiq to one man.
