Muhammad bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) said that a man came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said to him: My companion and I raced our horses towards the opening of the mountain pass, and we struck a gazelle while we were both in ihram. What is your view? Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to a man sitting beside him: "Come, let us judge, you and I." So the two of them ruled that he must give a she-goat. He mentioned in the hadith that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "This is Abd al-Rahman bin Awf." [Da'if. Previously at no. 9857]

Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A group of people from Iraq came to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) and said: We flushed out a hyena and drove it back and forth between us until we struck it, and some of us were not in ihram while some of us were in ihram. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "If it was a male hyena, then a fat ram; and if it was a female hyena, then a fat ewe." They said: O Abu al-Abbas, (is that) upon each man of us? He said: "No, but share it among yourselves."

Ammar, the freedman of Banu Hashim, said that some freedmen of Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) had entered ihram when a hyena passed by them. They threw their sticks at it and struck it, and this troubled them. They came to Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and mentioned it to him. Ibn Umar said: "You owe a ram." They said: Is a ram owed by each one of us? He said: "You are being dealt with strictly: each of you owes a ram." Ali (bin Umar) said: The linguists said: "la-mu'azzazun bikum" means "you are being dealt with strictly".
