(a) Abd al-Rahman bin Mu'adh narrates from a man among the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed the people at Mina and assigned them their places. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let the Muhajirun camp here," and he pointed to the right side of the qiblah, and he said: "And the Ansar here," and he pointed to the left side of the qiblah; then the people camped around them.
I found this narration in my book in this way, "from a man."
(b) Imam Abu Dawud (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated this with his chain: Abd al-Rahman bin Mu'adh said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) addressed us while we were at Mina, and our hearing was opened up so that we could hear (clearly) whatever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, even though we were in our own places (encampments). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was teaching them the rites of their Hajj until he reached (the mention of) the Jamrahs. He (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his two index fingers (together), then said: "With pebbles the size used for flicking (khadhf)." Then he ordered the Muhajirun, and they camped at the front part of the mosque, and he ordered the Ansar to camp behind the mosque. He said: Then after that the rest of the people camped as well.
This is the correct (version). Abd al-Rahman bin Mu'adh was a Companion, but it is said that Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Taymi did not meet him and that his narration from him is mursal (with a missing link), and Allah knows best.

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: It was said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Shall we not build for you (peace and blessings be upon him) a building at Mina to give you shade? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No! Mina is a place to kneel the camels for whoever arrives first."

Imran al-Ansari said: Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) turned aside towards me while I was stopping beneath a sarhah tree on the road to Makkah, and he said: "What made you stop beneath this sarhah tree?" I said: "I came to take its shade." He said: "Anything other than that?" I said: "I came only for the shade." He said: "Anything other than that?" I said: "Nothing; I have no other purpose in coming here." Then Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you are between the two mountains of Mina" (and he pointed with his hand towards the east), "there is a valley there called al-Surar, in which there is a sarhah tree beneath which the umbilical cords of seventy prophets were cut."
