أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الصَّغَانِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَزَلْ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى الْجَمْرَةَ " رَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ فِي الصَّحِيحِ عَنْ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ الثَّابِتِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى الْجَمْرَةَ الَّتِي عِنْدَ الشَّجَرَةِ فَرَمَاهَا بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ يُكَبِّرُ مَعَ كُلِّ حَصَاةٍ مِنْهَا، وَكَذَلِكَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ الثَّابِتِ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُكَبِّرُ مَعَ كُلِّ حَصَاةٍ.
Sayyiduna al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying the Talbiyah until he stoned the Jamrah.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the Jamrah that was by the tree and threw seven pebbles at it, saying the Takbir with each pebble. Likewise, in the established narration from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the Takbir with each pebble.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the Jamrah that was by the tree and threw seven pebbles at it, saying the Takbir with each pebble. Likewise, in the established narration from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the Takbir with each pebble.
وَأَخْبَرَنَا الْإِمَامُ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ، أنبأ أَبُو طَاهِرِ بْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ، أنبأ جَدِّي، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، ثنا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: " رَمَقْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ بِأَوَّلِ حَصَاةٍ ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I kept watching the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying the Talbiyah until he threw the first pebble at Jamrat al-Aqabah.
وَأَخْبَرَنَا الْإِمَامُ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ، أنبأ أَبُو طَاهِرٍ، أنبأ جَدِّي، ثنا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، ثنا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَفَضْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ يُكَبِّرُ مَعَ كُلِّ حَصَاةٍ، ثُمَّ قَطَعَ التَّلْبِيَةَ مَعَ آخِرِ حَصَاةٍ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ: تَكْبِيرُهُ مَعَ كُلِّ حَصَاةٍ كَالدِّلَالَةِ عَلَى قَطْعِهِ التَّلْبِيَةَ بِأَوَّلِ حَصَاةٍ، كَمَا رُوِّينَا فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، وَقَوْلُهُ: يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى الْجَمْرَةَ أَرَادَ بِهِ حَتَّى أَخَذَ فِي رَمْيِ الْجَمْرَةِ، وَأَمَّا مَا فِي رِوَايَةِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مِنَ الزِّيَادَةِ فَإِنَّهَا غَرِيبَةٌ أَوْرَدَهَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ وَاخْتَارَهَا وَلَيْسَتْ فِي الرِّوَايَاتِ الْمَشْهُورَةِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَاللهُ أَعْلَمُ.
Sayyiduna al-Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I departed from Arafat with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying the Talbiyah until he stoned Jamrat al-Aqabah; he (peace and blessings be upon him) said the Takbir with each pebble. Then he ended the Talbiyah with the last pebble.
(b) The Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: His saying the Takbir with each pebble indicates that he ended the Talbiyah with the first pebble, as we have narrated in the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him); and his words "he kept saying the Talbiyah" until he stoned the Jamrah mean: "until he began stoning the Jamrah."
As for the addition in the narration of Sayyiduna al-Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), it is gharib (unusual).
The Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Saying the Takbir with each pebble indicates that the Talbiyah was ended at the very first pebble, as is clear from the hadith; but the additional words at the end of the other narration are indeed unusual.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرَةَ بَكَّارُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ الْقَاضِي بِمِصْرَ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَخْبَرَةَ، قَالَ: غَدَوْتُ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ مِنْ مِنًى إِلَى عَرَفَةَ وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ رَجُلًا آدَمَ لَهُ ضَفِيرَتَانِ عَلَيْهِ مِسْحَةُ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ، وَكَانَ يُلَبِّي فَاجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ غَوْغَاءُ مِنْ غَوْغَاءِ النَّاسِ فَقَالُوا: يَا أَعْرَابِيُّ إِنَّ هَذَا لَيْسَ بِيَوْمِ تَلْبِيَةٍ إِنَّمَا هُوَ التَّكْبِيرُ، قَالَ: فَعِنْدَ ذَلِكَ الْتَفَتَ إِلِيَّ، فَقَالَ: " جَهِلَ النَّاسُ أَمْ نَسُوا؟ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَ مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْحَقِّ لَقَدْ خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ مِنًى إِلَى عَرَفَةَ فَمَا تَرَكَ التَّلْبِيَةَ حَتَّى رَمَى الْجَمْرَةَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَخْلِطَهَا بِتَكْبِيرٍ أَوْ تَهْلِيلٍ " وَقَدْ رُوِّينَا مَعْنَى هَذَا مُخْتَصَرًا فِي الْحَدِيثِ الثَّابِتِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ.
Abdullah bin Sakhbarah said: I went with Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) from Mina to Arafah. Abdullah was a man of brown complexion with two braids, and he had the look of the desert folk. He was saying the Talbiyah when a rabble of people gathered around him and said: O Bedouin! This is not a day of Talbiyah; rather it is a day of Takbir. At that he turned to me and said: Are the people ignorant, or have they forgotten? By the One who sent Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with the truth! I went out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) from Mina to Arafah, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) did not stop the Talbiyah until he stoned the Jamrah, though he would mix in Takbir and Tahlil as well.
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، قَالَ: أَفَضْتُ مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ فَمَا أَزَالُ أَسْمَعُهُ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ فَلَمَّا قَذَفَهَا أَمْسَكَ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا هَذَا؟، فَقَالَ: " رَأَيْتُ أَبِي عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ يُلَبِّي حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ ".
Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I departed with al-Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), and I kept hearing him say the Talbiyah until he stoned Jamrat al-Aqabah. When he threw at it, he fell silent, so I said: What is this? He said: I saw my father Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saying the Talbiyah until he stoned the Jamrah, and he told me that "the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do the same."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيُّ، أنبأ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ مَحْمُودٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحَافِظُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ثنا ابْنُ دَاوُدَ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الْمَكِّيِّ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ لَبَّى حَتَّى رَمَى جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ وَقَدْ رُوِّينَا فِي ذَلِكَ عَنْ جَمَاعَةٍ مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ قَدْ مَضَى ذِكْرُ ذَلِكَ.
Ata said that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) kept saying the Talbiyah until he stoned Jamrat al-Aqabah. We have already narrated this from a large group of the Companions, and mention of it has preceded.
