Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The sunnah for the mu'takif is that he does not visit a sick person, does not attend a funeral, does not touch a woman nor have intimate relations with her, and does not go out for any need except what is unavoidable; there is no i'tikaf without fasting, and no i'tikaf except in a congregational mosque.
(Hisham bin Urwah narrates from Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) that the mu'takif should not attend a funeral, nor visit the sick, nor accept an invitation, nor perform i'tikaf without fasting, and there is no i'tikaf except in a congregational mosque. Sa'id bin al-Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The mu'takif should not visit the sick nor attend a funeral.)
Many of the huffaz held that these words are the saying of someone below Aishah, and that whoever inserted them into the hadith erred.
