Nafi' narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a gold ring was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) put it on his right hand and turned its stone towards his palm, and the people then made gold rings for themselves. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw this, he took it off and said: "I will never wear it." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) had a silver ring made.

Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made a gold ring and turned its stone towards his palm, and the people also had rings made. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw the ring away, and then he (peace and blessings be upon him) had a silver ring made.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had a silver ring made, which he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wear on his hand. After him (peace and blessings be upon him) it was on the hand of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), then it remained on the hand of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), then it was on the hand of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), until it fell from him into the well of Aris. On it was engraved: "Muhammad Rasulullah" (Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah).
Abdul Aziz bin Abi Rawwad narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wear his ring on his left hand. Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to wear his ring on his left hand. It is possible that the ring he (peace and blessings be upon him) put on his right hand was the gold ring, which he then threw away, and the one he put on his left hand was the silver ring. This reconciles the two narrations.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a silver ring made and wore it on his right hand. He used to turn its stone towards his palm, and its stone was Abyssinian.

Al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a silver ring made and wore it on his right hand. Its stone was Abyssinian, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to keep it towards his palm.

Thabit (may Allah have mercy on him) said that Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: It is as if I am looking at the gleam (of the stone) of the ring of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); and he pointed to his left hand. In another narration: The ring of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on this, and he pointed to the little finger of his left hand.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الزكاة / 7567
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The ring of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on this; and he pointed to the little finger of his left hand.
The Shaykh (al-Bayhaqi) said: This seems to be more correct than al-Zuhri's narration from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) about the ring that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had made of silver. Al-Zuhri narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that "he saw a silver ring on the hand of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for one day; then the people had silver rings made and wore them, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw away his ring, and the people threw away their rings as well." It seems that the mention of silver in this story is a slip that came onto al-Zuhri's tongue and was carried from him as an error, because the ring he (peace and blessings be upon him) threw away was gold, and after that he had a silver one made. The narration of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) shows that the ring he (peace and blessings be upon him) wore on his right hand was the gold ring, which he then threw away. So it seems that the error in the narration of Yunus from al-Zuhri from Anas lies here: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned the right hand only regarding the gold ring, as Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) explained, but al-Zuhri's tongue slipped to silver, and the error of mentioning the right hand with the silver ring occurred in the narration of those who narrated from al-Zuhri. And Allah knows best. Sulayman bin Bilal narrated from Ja'far bin Muhammad, from his father, a report that indicates this reconciliation is correct: that the ring he (peace and blessings be upon him) wore on his right hand was the gold one, and the one he wore on his left hand was the silver one. And Allah knows best.

Ja'far bin Muhammad narrated from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wore a gold ring on the little finger of his right hand until, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) returned home, he threw it away and did not wear it again. Then he wore a silver ring on his left hand. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), and Sayyiduna Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) also wore their rings on their left hands. Ja'far bin Muhammad said: On the rings of Hasan and Husayn there was the remembrance of Allah. He said: And on my father's ring there was: "Al-'izzatu lillahi jami'a" (All honour belongs to Allah).
