It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray at night while I lay across between him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the qiblah, like a bier (janazah) laid widthwise.

Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "What things break the prayer by passing in front?" They said: "A woman and a donkey passing." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Is a woman an evil beast? Indeed, I used to lie in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) the way a bier lies, while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying."

Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) relates that someone mentioned in the presence of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the prayer is broken by (the passing in front of) a dog, a donkey and a woman. She said: "You have regarded us like donkeys and dogs! By Allah, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying while I lay on the bed between him (peace and blessings be upon him) and the qiblah. Then I would have some need, and I disliked sitting up in front of him (peace and blessings be upon him) and causing him discomfort, so I would slip out from the foot of the bed."

She said: "These people have made us equal to dogs and donkeys! Many times I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) praying at night while I lay on the bed between him and the qiblah. If I had some need, I would quietly slip out from the foot of the bed, disliking to turn my face towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)."
