وَأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، أنبأ يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، ثنا ابْنُ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي عَبْدَانَ، أنبأ عَبْدُ اللهِ هُوَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أنبأ مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، أَنَّ عَبَّادَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ وَبَعْضَ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَضِيَ عَنْهُنَّ أَمَرْنَ بِجِنَازَةِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنْ يُمَرَّ بِهَا عَلَيْهِنَّ، فَمُرَّ بِهِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَجُعِلَ يُوقَفُ عَلَى الْحُجَرِ فَيُصَلِّينَ عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ بَلَغَ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ بَعْضَ النَّاسِ عَابَ ذَلِكَ وَقَالَ: هَذِهِ بِدْعَةٌ مَا كَانَتِ الْجِنَازَةُ تَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَقَالَتْ: " مَا أَسْرَعَ النَّاسَ إِلَى أَنْ يَعِيبُوا مَا لَا عِلْمَ لَهُمْ بِهِ، عَابُوا عَلَيْنَا أَنْ دَعَوْنَا بِجِنَازَةِ سَعْدٍ تَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ، وَمَا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى سُهَيْلِ بْنِ بَيْضَاءَ إِلَّا فِي جَوْفِ الْمَسْجِدِ " وَأَخْرَجَهُ أَيْضًا مِنْ حَدِيثِ وُهَيْبٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ.
Abbad bin Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) and other wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that the bier of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) should be brought to them. So he was brought into the mosque, and the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered his funeral prayer standing at their rooms. Then it reached Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that some people had objected to this and said that it was an innovation (bid'ah), because the bier used not to be brought into the mosque. So Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: How quickly the people find fault with something of which they have no knowledge! They found fault with us because we called for the bier of Sa'd to be brought into the mosque. Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not offer the funeral prayer of Suhayl bin Bayda' (may Allah be pleased with him) in the mosque!
