(a) Abdullah bin al-Harith (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) delivered a sermon to us on a muddy day, and when the mu'adhdhin reached 'Hayya ala al-salah' (Come to the prayer), he ordered him to call out: 'Al-salatu fi al-rihal' (Pray in your dwellings). The people began looking at one another. He said: "It is as if you object to this! This was done by one who was better than me, meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Friday prayer is obligatory."
(b) In the narration of Musaddad: "On a day of heavy mud."
