Miswar bin Makhramah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), while one of my fingers, this one or this one, was in his wound, saying: "O company of Muslims! I do not fear the people for you; I only fear you for the people. I have left among you two things; as long as you hold fast to them, you will remain in goodness: justice in judgement and fairness in division. I have left you like a well-trodden pasture of livestock; but if a people become crooked, it too will be turned crooked with them."
