Hadith Beginning with the Letter Nun (ن)

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"This fire of yours, which the children of Adam kindle, is one part of seventy parts of the fire of Hell." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! Was this not sufficient?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It has been made to exceed it by sixty-nine (69) parts, each part of them as hot as this (worldly fire)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"This fire of yours is one part of seventy parts of the fire of Hell; each part of it has heat equal to this (worldly fire)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Some people of my Ummah were shown to me as fighters in the path of Allah, riding upon the waves of this sea like kings seated upon thrones."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We shall begin with that with which Allah began."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The first people of this Ummah were saved through certainty and abstinence (zuhd), and its last people will be destroyed through miserliness and long hopes."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Remove harmful things from the path of the Muslims."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I have sacrificed here, and the whole of Mina is a place of sacrifice, so sacrifice at your own camps. I stood here, and the whole plain of Arafah is a place of standing; and I stood here as well, and the whole of Muzdalifah (Jam') is a place of standing."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We are the last of the nations and the first to be brought to account. It will be said: 'Where is the unlettered nation and its Prophet?' So we are the last (in time) yet the first (in rank)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We are more entitled to doubt than Ibrahim (peace be upon him), when he said: 'My Lord! Show me how You give life to the dead.' Allah said: 'Do you not believe?' He said: 'Yes indeed! But so that my heart may be at rest.' And may Allah have mercy on Lut (peace be upon him); he was indeed taking refuge in a mighty support. And had I remained in prison as long as Yusuf (peace be upon him) remained, I would have responded to the one who summoned me at once."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We are more entitled to Musa (peace be upon him) and closer to him than you."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We are the last in coming into the world, yet we will be the foremost on the Day of Resurrection, except that they were given the Book before us and we were given it after them. Then this day (Friday) is the one that Allah made obligatory upon them, but they differed about it, and Allah guided us to it. So in this matter the people follow us: the Jews tomorrow and the Christians the day after tomorrow."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We are Banu al-Nadr bin Kinanah; we do not disown our mother, nor do we dissociate ourselves from our father."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Tomorrow we shall camp at Khayf Bani Kinanah, where Quraysh swore an alliance upon disbelief."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A man who had never done any good deed removed a thorny branch from the path: either it was on a felled tree and he threw it away, or it had been lying there and he moved it off the path. So Allah accepted this good deed of his and admitted him into Paradise."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The Black Stone (al-Hajar al-Aswad) came down from Paradise, and it was whiter than milk; then the sins of the children of Adam turned it black."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Jibril (peace be upon him) came down and led me in prayer. So I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him, then I prayed with him. Then he said: 'It is with this very timing that I have been commanded.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"An angel came down from the sky and refuted what he had said to you. Then, when you defended yourself, Shaytan came in, and I do not sit where Shaytan has come."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A prophet from among the prophets camped beneath a tree, and an ant bit him. He gave an order and his belongings were taken out from beneath it; then he gave an order and its nest was burned with fire. So Allah Almighty revealed to him: 'Would it not have sufficed to punish just one ant?'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"This verse was revealed concerning the people of Quba: 'In it are men who love to purify themselves, and Allah loves those who purify themselves.'"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We will be patient and we will not retaliate."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"I was granted victory by the saba (the east wind), and the people of Ad were destroyed by the dabur (the west wind)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah make radiant the person who hears a hadith from us and memorises it until he conveys it to someone else, for often a bearer of knowledge conveys it to one who has more understanding than himself, and often a bearer of knowledge is not himself one of understanding."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah make radiant the person who hears something from us and conveys it just as he heard it, for often the one to whom it is conveyed retains it better than the one who heard it."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah make radiant the servant who heard my words, retained them, then conveyed them on my behalf, for often a bearer of knowledge is not himself one of understanding, and often a bearer of knowledge conveys it to one who has more understanding than himself."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"May Allah make radiant the servant who heard my words, retained them and preserved them, then conveyed them to one who had not heard them, for often a bearer of knowledge is not himself one of understanding, and often a bearer of knowledge conveys it to one who has more understanding than himself. There are three things concerning which the heart of a Muslim does not harbour rancour: making one's deeds sincerely for Allah, giving sincere counsel to the rulers of the Muslims, and holding fast to their community, for their supplication (and unity) encompasses those behind them."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The man's fluid is white and thick, and the woman's fluid is yellow and thin; whichever of the two prevails, the resemblance is to that one."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent condiment vinegar is!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent jihad Hajj is!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent man Abu Bakr is! What an excellent man Umar is! What an excellent man Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah is! What an excellent man Usayd bin Hudayr is! What an excellent man Thabit bin Qays bin Shammas is! What an excellent man Mu'adh bin Jabal is! What an excellent man Mu'adh bin Amr bin al-Jamuh is! What an excellent man Suhayl bin Bayda is!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent man Abdullah is! If only he would offer the night prayer (tahajjud)."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent pre-dawn meal (suhur) dates are!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"How excellent are these two surahs which are recited in the two rak'ahs before Fajr: Surah al-Kafirun and Surah al-Ikhlas."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent charity it is to lend a milch she-camel, and what an excellent charity too to lend a milch goat: she goes out in the morning with a vessel (of milk) and returns in the evening with a vessel."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent death it is for a man to die defending his right!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"What an excellent servant of Allah Khalid bin al-Walid is! He is one of the swords of Allah."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"How excellent it is for a slave who worships his Lord well and is sincere towards his master, and dies in that state; how excellent it is for him!"

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"There are two blessings in which most people are at a loss: health and free time."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"The soul of the believer remains held back because of his debt until his debt is paid off."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"A man's spending on his family is charity."

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"We will fulfil the covenant made with them, and we will seek Allah's help against them."
