It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The deeds of every day are sealed (in the evening). So when the believer falls ill, the angels say: 'O our Lord! You have held back (through illness) such-and-such a servant of Yours.' The Most Generous Lord says: 'Record for him deeds like those he used to do (when healthy) and seal them, until he recovers or passes away.'"
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that we were sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) when he asked for something to drink. Water mixed with honey was brought to him. When he brought it close to his mouth, he wept so much that he made his companions weep too. Then they all fell silent, but his weeping did not stop. He wept again so much that his companions thought they might not be able to ask him anything. Then he wiped his eyes, and the people said: O Caliph of the Messenger! What made you weep? He said: I was (once) with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and I saw that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was pushing something away from himself, although there was no one else with him (peace and blessings be upon him). I said: O Messenger of Allah! What are you pushing away from yourself? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This world was presented to me in a form, and I said to it: 'Get away from me.' Then it came back and said: 'If you have escaped from me, those who come after you will never escape from me.'"
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
