عَذَابُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ فِي الْقَتْلِ وَالزَّلَازِلُ وَالْفِتَنُ .

حَدَّثَنَا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن عبد الجبار، حَدَّثَنَا محمد بن فُضَيل بن غَزْوان، حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقة بن المثنّى، حَدَّثَنَا رِياح بن الحارث (2)، عن أبي بُرْدة، قال: بَيْنا أنا واقفٌ في السُّوق في إمارة زياد، إذ ضربتُ بإحدى يديَّ على الأخرى تعجُّبًا، فقال رجلٌ من الأنصار - قد كانت لوالده صحبةٌ مع رسول الله ﷺ: ممّا تَعجَبُ يا أبا بُرْدة؟ قلتُ أعجَبُ من قومٍ دينُهم واحدٌ، ونبيُّهم واحدٌ، ودعوتُهم واحدةٌ، وحجُّهم واحدٌ، وغزوُهم واحدٌ، يَستحِلُّ بعضُهم قتل بعض، قال: فلا تَعجَبْ، فإنِّي سمعتُ والدي أخبرني أنه سَمِعَ رسولَ الله ﷺ يقول: "إِنَّ أُمّتي (1) أُمَّةٌ مرحومةٌ ليس عليها في الآخرة حسابٌ ولا عذابٌ، إنما عذابُها في القَتْلِ والزَّلازل والفِتَن" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Abu Burdah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I was standing in the market during the governorship of Ziyad when, in amazement, I suddenly struck one of my hands against the other. A man from the Ansar - whose father was a Companion of the Messenger of Allah - asked: O Abu Burdah, what are you amazed at? I said: I am astonished at people whose religion is one, whose Prophet is one, whose call is one, whose Hajj and jihad are one, and yet they consider it lawful to shed one another's blood. He said: Do not be amazed, for I heard my father say that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, this Ummah of mine is an Ummah that has been shown mercy; in the Hereafter there is no reckoning and no punishment upon it. Its punishment has been placed only (in this world) in the form of killing, earthquakes and trials."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

حَدَّثَنَا أبو العباس، حَدَّثَنَا أحمد بن عبد الجبار، حَدَّثَنَا أبو بكر بن عيَّاش، عن أبي حَصِين، عن أبي بُرْدة قال: كنتُ عند عُبيد الله بن زياد، فأُتي برؤوس خَوارجَ، فكلما مرُّوا عليه برأس قال: إلى النار، فقال له عبد الله بن يزيد: أوَلا تدري، سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "عذابُ هذه الأمّة جُعِل بأيديها في دُنياها" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين ولم يُخرجاه، إنما أخرج مسلم وحده حديثَ طلحة بن يحيى عن أبي بُردة عن أبي موسى: "أمّتي أمّةٌ مرحومة" (4).

Whenever a head was carried past him, he would say: This one goes to the Fire. So Abdullah bin Yazid said to him: Do you not know that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The punishment of this Ummah has been placed in its own hands, in this very world of it."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. However, Imam Muslim alone recorded the hadith of Talhah bin Yahya from Abu Burdah from Abu Musa: "My Ummah is an Ummah that has been shown mercy."
