The story of a Companion's selflessness in hosting a guest

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! I am in a state of severe hunger and hardship. He (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a messenger to his wives, but nothing was found with them. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is there anyone who will host this man tonight? May Allah have mercy on him." A man from the Ansar stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah! I am here. He took him to his home and said to his wife: Honour the guest of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and do not hold anything back. His wife said: By Allah! I have nothing except the children's food. He said: When the children ask for supper, put them to sleep, then come and put out the lamp; we will go hungry tonight. So she did so. The next morning the man went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty was greatly pleased (or smiled) at the deed of so-and-so and so-and-so (the two of you, husband and wife)." And Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, revealed this verse: "And they give others preference over themselves, even though they themselves are in poverty" [Surah al-Hashr: 9].
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Alqamah bin Abdullah al-Muzani narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When one of you buys meat, let him make plenty of broth with it, for if someone cannot get a piece of meat, he will at least get broth, and it (the broth) is also one of the two kinds of meat (that is, a substitute for meat)."
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
